New delivery of KTMs stolen, 36 new junior motocross bikes stolen from lorry

A delivery of 36 new KTM junior motocross motorcycles has been stolen from a lorry in Kent on the evening of Friday December 9.
Thieves took 35 KTM 50 SXs and one 65 SX. The bikes were still in their individual transportation boxes, still requiring a small amount of assembly from the dealerships they were intended for.
The 50 and 65 SX Sport Minicycles are incredibly popular motorcross machines for junior riders.
The theft has many implications and not only makes availability of the 50 SX extremely difficult but will very much spoil Christmas for many families as the majority of the bikes stolen were pre-ordered via KTM dealers ready to arrive as gifts.
Even though these are off-road bikes, each machine has a unique VIN (vehicle identification number) and engine number that can be used to trace its identity. Police and KTM dealers have these details and, together with KTM UK, will be working with motocross clubs and tracks across the country to make sure these stolen machines are returned.
Shaun Sisterson, Managing Director of KTM UK, said: “This theft has a massive affect on availability of the bikes and will result in a lot of disappointed children this Christmas as we are aware that many of the bikes stolen were earmarked as gifts.
“We’re doing all we can to get additional replacement units in time for Christmas, however these models are in short supply. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused but the theft has been a matter out of KTM’s control.”
Anybody with potential information regarding these bikes can contact KTM UK on 01280 709500.

Girls, Girls, Girls!!!

The prize to join the ranks of the Monster Girls, head to some of the best events on the planet and to get a spot on the 2012 Monster Energy calendar shoot had the applications testing the limits of the site www.monstergirlsearch.com. Fortunately for the masses of fans around Europe, they were left with a feast of beauties to check out and ultimately vote for. And boy did they vote. Entries poured in from South Africa to Finland and the web was flooded with some of the hottest and frankly coolest chicks out there. Keeping up with the Monster Girls’ reputation for being capable of lighting up any environment, the votes followed the hottest but also the girls with a ton of attitude. The winners of Monster Girl Search 2012 were shortlisted by the public vote before the very same athletes who the winning girls would go on to hang out with made their picks. Unsurprisingly, the likes of Ken Block didn’t seem to have much difficultly in sitting down and scoping the talent. So here we have it - the best of the best, the cream of the crop and, even better, there’s a behind the scenes film of the girls in action shooting the 2012 calendar together. As part of the winning experience they also got to hang out at the Monza Rally Show with a certain Valentino Rossi who wasn’t shy about getting a photo taken with them all. When the Monster Girls are unleashed on Europe in 2012 there’s going to be a whole new dimension of talent on show. These exclusive photos of the girls are hot as hell so feast your eyes on them all and don’t forget that the calendar shoot is only a taste of what’s in store.

Youngsters get all reved up over motocross project

SINCE the Bwlch motocross project was set up, there has been a dramatic fall in the number of complaints to police about young people riding around the area, damaging land and putting themselves and others at risk.
It is 12 months of progress which was recognised by the selection of the scheme as a shortlisted finalist for the Youth Work Wales Excellence Awards 2011.The awards recognise examples of outstanding work with young people across the country.
The Bwlch scheme, devised by bike enthusiast Huw Thomas, has captured the imagination of scores of youngsters.
It provides them with a safe environment in which to learn how to ride motorbikes properly, while also gaining qualifications in motor mechanics.
Mr Thomas, a senior youth worker, said: "It's going really strong. We are delivering accreditation on a weekly basis for different groups.
"We have school-based youth workers in every secondary school in Llanelli who are bringing kids to Bwlch, and they are learning mechanics and off-road riding, as well as maintenance issues, like ensuring their bike is safe, how to change the oil and adjust the chains.
"It's such a popular activity. We are looking to see if we can secure funding to get some more motorbikes, that's my goal."
The project deals with a group of up to 14-16 young people at a time.
"Currently we are having to take them to Cardiff as there's not a track locally," said Mr Thomas.
"We do start-stop sessions outside our field here and we take them off-road riding to approved sites in Cardiff and Mountain Ash.

The youngsters who benefit from the project often have their own problems and need a positive outlet to progress as people.
Huw said: "We have a mixture of young people — some are lacking confidence, some of them are over-confident — and this brings everyone to an excellent level. Those who need to have their confidence boosted, it brings them up and everyone achieves. And those who are cocky, it brings them down and they have more respect.
"Anyone can twist a throttle and go hell for leather — it's not all about that.
"It's a skill, you have to get the approach right and the speed comes afterwards.
"Everything is done solidly. It's all about technique, not about racing."
Mr Thomas said of the youths using the scheme: "A lot of them haven't got the opportunities. Many of the young people we work with are disadvantaged and don't have the parental support they should have. They don't have the chances other youngsters have."

Champion rider Dan Evans, 20, works there when not out on the track. He spends around four days a week teaching youngsters how to ride and maintain their bikes properly.
Dan, who rides a Husqvarna 250 in competition, said: "I wish I had something like this growing up.
"Motocross is a great sport, and to be able to offer young people an alternative sport is fantastic.
"Motocross can be potentially dangerous, so it is important we can offer safe, supervised surroundings with experienced instructors.
"It's brilliant working with youngsters and teaching them. They are all interested.
"A lot of them are Neets (not in education, education or training) and on the verge of being kicked out of school.
"If they can't learn in the classroom, they learn here.
"We just see if their behaviour improves.
"Some we don't see again, and it works."
Youth worker Julian Lemon added: "Motocross is hugely popular, but we recognised there was a problem with young people riding illegally and we wanted to do something to change this.
"Riding a motocross bike is relatively easy, but riding one properly takes a lot of skill. We wanted to provide a safe environment in which young people could learn how to use their equipment effectively."

KTM Launch 2012 AMA Supercross Team

Unless you`ve been living in a cave in Llantwll, it would of been real hard to miss the domination KTM have had in Euroland. Maybe having the biggest budget, best riders and a wide range of machinery has helped them dominate the GP`s across the globe, but in America it has been slightly different story. A very race sighting seeing a KTM listed in the results for either the AMA Supercross or Motocross series.  With their recent signing of 2010 AMA Supercross and Outdoor Champion Ryan Dungey, combined with a fully fit Marvin Musquin and 2011 MX2 World Champion Ken Roczen, you could say  they are force to reckon with now in the good old  U S OF A. You could now be seeing KTM somewhere near the Top now ,if not at the Top for 2012 !

An Electric MX Bike The EVDrive CRF

Motocross sometimes comes across as a bit of a noisy sport, normally number one complaint or hurdle to get over when ever thinking about setting up a legal facility, especially since the 4 stroke revolution, Noise!  Now across the pond they seem to be coming up with maybe an alternative option, the EVDrive CRF. Not a cheap alternative coming in at $13,700 or not much change from £9000 for 110 min of riding before you need to look for the nearest plug socket. Maybe when the price becomes a little more affordable for the average Sunday rider, will people sacrifice the smell and sound of a Real motocross bikes for the convenience of being to ride? Especially over here in the U.K. where tracks are becoming a bit of a sacred thing. Could it then be possible to ride close to built up or urban places , maybe it is  the future ? Hit play on the video below and see what you think.
